The abbreviation WSPR stands for Weak Signal Propagation Reporter. It is a protocol used for weak-signal radio communication between amateur radio operators that is implemented in a computer application. Joe Taylor, K1JT, devised the protocol and first wrote the application. The software code is currently open source and is being developed by a small group of people. The application is intended for testing propagation pathways on the MF and HF bands by sending and receiving low-power broadcasts. Hayden Honeywood VK7HH demonstrates in this video what WSPR is, how to get started, and how to set up as an introduction for newcomers in this video.
