The winding of a metal wire is used to make a resistor. It can withstand higher power than carbon or porcelain gold film. The potentiometer can be used as a voltage divider, a restat and a current controller. Good contact between the central sliding end and the resistor housing, smooth rotation. The housing of the potentiometer resistor has two fixed ends. By manually adjusting the rotating shaft or slider and changing the position of the movable contact on the resistor housing, the resistance value between the movable contact and any fixed end changes, thus changing the size of the voltage and current.
