High performance is achieved with a NE602/612 mixer-oscillator chip connected differentially to a high-gain LM386 audio amplifier. The oscillator-mixer is voltage regulated by a 78LO5 for best stability. The antenna input has a high-Q parallel tuned circuit with a front panel RF gain control to minimize interference and prevent overloading from strong signals.
It has smooth varicap tuning with a shielded VFO coil for maximum stability. You can configure the tuning to cover the entire band or to cover just a portion of the band for more bandspread tuning. Delivers plenty of volume for headphone operation and will even drive a small speaker. Uses a 9-volt battery (not included). The kit measures 1¾ x 4¾ x 5 inches.
